day 24
We woke up early, 8, that is early for me
I’ve never been on such a well prepared hike before. Bethan and Lydia had made us all individual packed lunches i.e. pre-baked banana pancakes?! Hikes last summer consisted of Georgia and I not knowing what to do with ourselves that day, then picking an overly ambitious trail in an overly ambitious time frame, bags packed with more red wine than water and a few tins of spaghetti. Miss ya darls
Also haven't worn my hiking boots since last summer and forgot that they have ZERO grip. I was no match for this next level slippery slope of death (see insta for vid). Lydia leant me her crampons, they helped
Snow shoeing is harder than I thought it would be, but it was lots of fun being in the woods with my isolation pals. Some beautiful colours about too

We were soo close to being there (probs only 1k away), but for some reason I was suddenly was very very anxious. There was a lot of catastrophising going on in my head. I have never wanted to give up and turn around more
But I didn’t and the lake was amazing. I forgot that it would be all frozen over for some reason. The mountain meadows were also insane
These hiking boots are going in the bin. I might as well have been walking in my socks. Surprised I didn't have trench foot by the time we got back
That was really tough. I am tired. My legs are tired
Everyone ordered Earls food and I didn’t because I thought the veggie nugs would suffice. They did not. Severe food envy
The house is a mess and it’s making me stressed. But too tired to do anything about it. I really hope I sleep well
