day 47
Excellent sleep. I’d say I’ve almost recovered from the most boring, all night bender there has ever been. Charlotte called me, that was a nice surprise, chatted to her for a while, then spoke to the rest of the Bells
Went for a run in the pouring rain with Phoebe, very wet and cold but glad we did it. Isaac was making some pasta for lunch when I got back. I am hunnnnngryyyy. For having no food in the house, this pasta is delish
Drove to Squamish after lunch to get lots of things. It’s unbelievably rainy today, the kind of rain you have to go extra slow otherwise you can’t see a thing. It was a gloomy drive but also kinda beautiful
Picked up the ‘portable’ BBQ we ordered for the van. Neither of us properly checked the dimensions and it’s enormous & needs a real big gas canister, damn. Idiots
Went to Walmart for an SD card, left with Bananagrams, an impossible puzzle and lots of other things we really don't need (ie 2 packs of bubblegum). Why does that always happen in Walmart? Also found a water tank for the van that was bigger and cheaper than anywhere else. Got an actual portable sized BBQ from Canadian Tyre. Hopefully someone buys the other one. Did a huge food shop then boosted back home
Isaac’s making another batch of kimchi. He reckons this is the batch, he’s going to nail it, it’s all in the compression of the cabbage. I had planned a really nice butternut squash and aubergine tart for dinner. Due to a lack of baking trays, it sadly didn’t go very well.
I thought I’d be speedy enough to transfer the hot roasted veg onto the puff pastry that was still on the plastic wrapper it came in, then slip the whole thing off the wrapper and transfer it all onto the said baking tray. Alas, there was a huge overestimation of my speed and agility. The veg melted the pastry, I had to lump it all in a big ball to get it off the wrapper, resulting in a calzone tartlette DISASTER. Tasted alright, but the first bite is with the eye and first impressions last
I put the new BBQ together under Isaac’s supervision, he said it would be good for me. Didn’t enjoy it much but now we have a tiny BBQ
